shakee jahura merritt

shakee jahura merritt is a black queer entrepreneur, political strategist, and advocate. As a Rutgers University student, he became a powerful voice for Black and Brown students, serving as Chair of the Black Caucus and making history as the university's first openly queer Black Student Body President. His leadership earned him appointments to prestigious advisory boards, including those led by Rutgers University President Jonathan Holloway.

Shakee’s passion for justice extends beyond the university. In 2020, he emerged as a key organizer for nationwide police reform, protesting daily and serving as a street medic. His commitment to community and advocacy led him to work for First Lady Tammy Murphy and Mayor Ras J. Baraka, and to found Political Palooza, an initiative driving Gen-Z political engagement. Striving to reshape the political landscape for a more inclusive future.
